The Baltimore Steam Packet Company was celebrating their 100 year anniversary in 1940 on Pier 10 at the time of this photo. Also known as The Old Bay Line, they would last another 22 years before ceasing operations.

Shot Towers were a common site along the eastern shorelines in the late 1800’s and early 20th century. This one in Baltimore was known as the Phoenix Shot Tower.
